Hey Readers, So the title might be a little dramatic but really my travel plans were totally screwed up yesterday because of Hurricane Joaquin hitting the East Coast. While it didn't hit Savannah directly, my flight was cancelled yesterday morning due to aircraft maintenance and then they rebooked me for TODAY and I wanted to be in Philly yesterday and thinking they had rebooked me for later Saturday I showed up at the airport thinking I was going to board my flight only to realize they had rebooked me for today, Sunday.
I was not okay with that however having already paid for the first night of my hotel I wasn't about to miss out on that plus I was already at the airport! I finally got my flights figured out and by 8pm I was in a cab in Philly headed to my hotel. Then I hit my limit on my card when I was trying to pay for the rest of my stay and of course my bank doesn't have any after hours customer service because why would they? I get my hotel situation figured out and I struggle up to my room and pay $40 for internet and head back to the lobby to figure out where I can get some food. By this time it's nine o'clock and thank God there was a place only a few blocks away that was still open and the valet said was really good. So I call myself an Uber and bundled up in jeans and a sweater trying to stay warm in the frigid Philadelphia weather. Let me tell you going from the still balmy and humid Savannah weather to windy and 40 degree Philadelphia weather was quite the change for me! I was not prepared and I definitely did not pack for this kind of weather! The warmest piece of clothing that I brought were three cardigans and no jackets and clearly I am going to need them! Anyway I get to the Rose Tattoo Cafe and it is so cute! Right on the corner, and you walk in to the middle of the restaurant and there are two bars on the first floor and then there is an upstairs with a private dining room and a balcony that you can eat on. I sat at the downstairs bar and ordered a cocktail, the Rose Tattoo drink to be exact, and began looking at the menu. Everything looked so good but I wasn't super hungry just wanted something to take the edge off before I went to bed. I ordered a cup of the soup of the day, a Curry Butternut Squash soup which was the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. Then the bartender convinced me to take a look at the desert menu. The only thing on the menu that was gluten free, I'm trying to get rid of my gluten intake because it might be causing the inflammation in my low back herniated disk, was pumpkin creme brûlée! But it was so good. I will never be able to eat regular creme brûlée again! Armed with suggestions from the bartenders and the waitstaff I made my way back to my hotel to ice my back and head to bed.
My Sunday recap will come tonight, for now I am off to the Mutter Museum to see some creepy things and then off to brunch with a friend! Wish me luck as I brave the cold!! Tomorrow I will be trying out live blogging at the Shop.org Summit!
Any suggestions on what I MUST see while in Philly?? I am trying to fit in a time to go see the Magic Gardens too!
